The event is scheduled from 10am to 5pm and will feature booths from area emergency and weather organizations, the US military, and local media outlets. We will be located in the amphitheater area. Please be aware that UNF does charge a $3 parking fee. Gate River Run Gate River Run Logo The 2011 Gate River Run is on the horizon and we're looking for volunteers. The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 12 and usually runs from about 7am - 11am so it's not a huge time committment. If you can help please register no later than Feb. 15. St. Johns River Cleanup St. Johns River Cleanup On March 19, 2011 Duval ARES will provide communications for the 16th Annual St. Johns River cleanup project. Details are still being worked out for the end-of-event celebration so stay tuned. The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) of Duval County, Florida, is a service organization of Duval County amateur radio operators which activates during emergencies or public service events to provide communications support where and as needed. When telephone service, cell phones, radio and TV stations fail (usually due to lost power), we step in and provide communications for emergency personnel and Health & Welfare info for victims. We constantly prepare ourselves and our equipment to be ready to serve our community, or other communities, at any time, 24 x 7, 365 days a year. Who Do We Help? In the event of emergencies we are called on by the: Duval County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department First Coast Disaster Council American Red Cross Salvation Army Other community organizations Who Can Join? Membership is open to all licensed Duval county amateur radio operators interested in enhancing their hobby with the additional public service activities available as an ARES volunteer.
